(WAFF) -A Marshall County man has been indicted on charges of home repair fraud. Investigators say the man, who was known as “The Fence Man,” took money to build fences but never seemed to get the job done.

Boaz police say they’ve presented two felony cases of home repair fraud to a Marshall County grand jury on 52-year-old Allen Wayne Hollis. Boaz police say Hollis started work on a fence but walked off the job before finishing it after he was paid.

Police say Hollis was paid to do those fences but only brought some lumber in one of the cases and never came back. At another home, police say Hollis was paid to put up a fence but he only dug some holes before walking off that job.

Authorities say it’s a good idea to do a background check on people before you hire them. Deputy Chief Gaskin says if you feel you may be a victim of Hollis’s then you should contact your local law enforcement agency or sheriff’s department.

Police say two misdemeanor charges on Hollis have already been adjudicated in municipal court. Hollis is currently being held without bond in the Marshall County Jail on unrelated charges.
