A Collinsville school teacher was fatally injured in a single-vehicle accident occurring early Thursday in Leesburg.
According to Cherokee County Coroner Jeremy Deaton, the victim has been identified as 36 year old Joshua Burrell of a Heflin address; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Burrell’s 2002 Suzuki XL7 crashed into a metal pole directly in front of Leesburg Town Hall around 7:20am.
No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
Those responding included: the Leesburg Police and Fire Departments, Cherokee EMS, and the Cherokee County Rescue Squad.
The cause of the wreck remains under investigation by the Leesburg Police Department.
