Last Thursday (April 2nd) Calhoun County Deputies pulled over to investigate a vehicle left parked in the middle of Highway 278 East and Sugar Falls Lane, and they discovered a man unconscious behind the wheel – with the car still running.

Heroin was clearly visible inside the vehicle and drug paraphernalia was also seen.

An ambulance was called to treat the suspect for a possible drug overdose.

The individual was soon indentified as 30 year old Daniel Scott Shackelford of Anniston; he was taken into custody at the scene, and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and Use/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

He was booked into the Calhoun County Detention Center on bond of $18,000.

A court date has been set for May 11th (2015) at 1:30pm.
