Plans Are Underway For Cedar Bluff’s 2015 Liberty Day

Plans are being finalized for the revival of Cedar Bluff’s Liberty Day, the event was cancelled last year due to lack of funding.

The Cedar Bluff Town Council held a Special Called meeting on Tuesday afternoon to continue to discuss plans and expenditures for the event which is slated to take on Saturday, June 27th in downtown Cedar Bluff.

During the meeting the council unanimously approved a budget of $10,000 for the event, the council also set the fee’s for food vendors which will be $60 deposit plus 20 percent of the total profit which will go back to the town with the cost of arts and craft vendors being set at a $50 deposit rate – all these prices were set to reflect the use of electricity in the park.

At the recommendation of the Mayor Council members also approved a $25 per car fee for entry into the Liberty Day Car Show, this year’s car will be judged based on several different categories with plaques being rewarded to the winners.

Liberty Day this year will also feature a Poker Run, Bingo, Cake Walk, Live Entertainment, and Inflatable’s for adults and kids alike – the Cedar Bluff Fire Department will also be selling BBQ, Hamburgers, Hotdogs etc.

At this time plans are in the works for the Cedar Bluff Lodge #486 to sponsor a beer tent with fifty percent of the profit going back to the town.

This year Liberty Day will feature a BMX Stunt Show with four shows taking place throughout the course of the day and of course the day’s festivities will wrap up that night with the highly anticipated fireworks show over Weiss Lake.
