The woman who died in a house fire this morning has been identified at Shirley Faye Abernathy, 54, according to Floyd County Deputy Coroner Gene Proctor.
She appears to have died from smoke inhalation, according to the preliminary investigation.
A man, identifed as her nephew, Jason Kilgore, suffered second and third degree burns and was taken to a burn center in Austell.
Battalion Chief Greg Abbott said investigators remain on the scene in the 4200 block of Alabama Highway at this hour. The cause has yet to be determined.
The mobile home was destroyed.
