Three Arrested In Connection To Fatal Shooting Outside Of Gadsden Night Club

Three people have been arrested in connection with Saturday’s fatal shooting of a Gadsden City High School student, according to a news release from Gadsden Police Capt. Bobby Jackson.

Robert Sydariou Deanthony Thornton, 19, of Anniston, is charged with murder in the death of Anthony Hale Jr., 17.

Two 17-year-old male juveniles from Anniston also are charged with murder in the case. Thornton and one of the juveniles were arrested in Anniston.

The other juvenile was arrested following a traffic stop of a vehicle in which he was riding by the Heflin Police Department. Heflin police identified him as a suspect in Hale’s murder.

All are in the Etowah County Detention Center on $100,000 cash bonds.

Hale was shot in the back of the head outside Club Status, at 628 Broad St., and died at UAB Hospital later Saturday.

According to the release, Gadsden detectives interviewed dozens of witnesses and determined there were several fights inside Club Status which eventually led management to close for the night.

Detectives believe at this time that individuals involved in the fights inside the club were trash talking outside the club. They believe the shooters responded to trash talk with gunfire, and that Hale was an innocent bystander.

The investigation continues and additional charges are expected against Thornton and the juveniles.
