Anglers enjoyed a great weekend of Fishing over the weekend. Bass were biting very well with several good solid 2-4 pound bass brought in. The Weiss Lake Anglers Winter Trail Championship Tournament was held out of Little River Marina on Saturday with a 28+ pound stringer of 5 bass brought to the scales. The winning stringer was caught by Cory and Jerry Cupps of Birmingham. The biggest bass of the day was a solid 7 pounder. Bass were taken on crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and jigs.
Crappie anglers enjoyed a good weekend of fishing with several limit stringers of crappies being caught on Little Spring Creek of Little River and the Coosa River between Cedar Bluff and Blackwell’s Crossroads. Crappies were caught on jigs being trolled along the river ledge and on minnows tightlined along the ledges. Crappies were also caught at Bay Springs, along the Chattooga River and Cowan Creek.
It seems the winter weather has gone and maybe Spring is about to be realized with mild temperatures during the day and at night.
Water temps are continuing to warm with most areas now well into the 50’s. The Lake level today is 2 feet 4 inches below the full mark.
