Cherokee County authorities arrested three individuals on drug charges Monday.

According to the information contained in a news release from Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, a routine traffic stop led to the arrest of two Georgia men on drug charges.

Deputy Jeremy Stepps pulled over a truck for speeding on Highway 411 North around noon

Stepps observed the passenger in the vehicle toss an object from the window which turned out to be drug paraphernalia.

A subsequent search of the truck turned up various drug paraphernalia – and a clear plastic bag containing a crystal-like substance that tested positive as being illegal.

Jonathan William York, age 26 from Cedartown Georgia, was charged with Possession with the Intent to Distribute, the Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Carrying Brass Knuckles; Bradley Keith Myers, age 29, also from Cedartown was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – and Tampering with Physical Evidence.

Both were booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center shortly before 1:00pm with bond set at $6,000 each.

In an unrelated case Morris William Parker, age 33 of Piedmont was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and with Domestic Violence 3rd Degree.

Parker was booked into jail just before 9:30pm; he remains behind bars awaiting setting of bond.
