Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident that occurred during a Friday afternoon funeral procession.
According to Floyd County Police Sergeant Greg Beck, the funeral procession was traveling southbound on Black’s Bluff Road around 4:00pm, when a Jeep Wrangler in the procession failed to yield at the stop sign at the intersection of the West Rome Connector – and was hit by a Toyota Corolla, which was traveling eastbound.
The Toyota continued on and rolled down an embankment with the driver, identified as 24 year old Taylor Brendon of Rome, sustaining head injuries.
Brendon was taken to Redmond Regional for treatment.
The driver of the Jeep, 22 year old Marisa McKinney from Pennsylvania, was taken to Floyd Medical Center for treatment of what appeared to be a broken nose; two passengers in that Jeep fortunately escaped injury.
