Town Of Cedar Bluff Renames A Portion Of Spring Street In Honor Of Former Mayor Martha Baker

During a ceremony held on Saturday at Cedar Bluff City Hall –Mayor Tammy Crane, members of the City Council as well as family members and residents of the city gathered to honor former Mayor Martha Baker with the renaming of a portion of Spring Street as Martha Vera Lane in honor of the former longtime mayor.

Mayor Baker passed away back on November 3rd of 2014 following an extensive illness – Baker resigned as Mayor back in May of that same year after serving as Mayor from 2006 –2008 and then again from 2012 – 2014. She also served as a Cedar Bluff Council Member for numerous years and was also a member of the Cedar Bluff Utility Board.

Also during the ceremony, Councilman Norman Burton read aloud a Proclamation in support of Arbor Day.

The Cherokee Rose Garden Club also announced that they will be planting two trees in the Cedar Bluff Park in memory of two of their members; Gary Green who helped found the Cherokee Rose Garden Club and also Steve Henderson who is the husband of one of the Garden Club members.
