27 year old Joel Matthew Hicks of Etowah County was arrested February 11th, on a charge of Domestic Violence by Suffocation/Strangulation – which is a felony offense.
According to reports Hicks and the victim were involved in a verbal altercation when Hicks allegedly placed his hands around the other party’s neck, causing the victim to pass out.
Hicks was arrested and transported to the Etowah County Detention Center – he was later released on a $5,000 property bond.
It remains unclear what led to the altercation.
