The amount of money you’re spending to fill up continues to go down, as of Thursday, the average price for a gallon of regular in Alabama is now $1.96, according to AAA’s Daily Fuel Gauge Report.

We’re starting to see gas prices fall below the $1.80 mark in some areas where the cheapest gas we found in Cherokee County was at a $1.79 in Cedar Bluff.

According to AAA Birmingham, the average price for gas has fallen for 113 days – a record – and our average is the lowest since May 2009. The national average is now $2.09 per gallon.
