UPDATED

Cherokee 9-1-1 received a call just before 9:30 Monday night from a woman who had been hurt while walking along the hiking trail at Yellow Creek Falls off of County Road 365.

She informed the dispatcher that she had slipped and fallen – possibly breaking her ankle.

Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were first to arrive on the scene and were met by an individual who led them to where the victim was.

Rescue personnel had to use an ATV to reach the woman.

According to family members, the victim, 33 year old Tammy Hindmon, was transported to Gadsden Regional Medical Center, where it was confirmed that she had, indeed, broken her ankle.

She is currently recuperating at home.
