A pedestrian was taken to Floyd Medical Center on Sunday evening after he was struck by a taxi, according to Rome police reports.

A witness saw 24-year-old Cody Highfield lying in the roadway in the 300 block of North Elm Street around 6:30 p.m.

Police questioned a 17-year-old who initially told officers she wasn’t involved, and then admitted she was driving a taxi that may have been involved, according to reports.

She told police she borrowed the taxi for personal reasons and admitted she did not have her headlights on when she was driving.

Highfield received visible injuries and was taken to Floyd Medical Center. He was treated and released, according to a hospital spokesman.
