Mrs. Myrtle Joyce Speer, age 74, of Gaylesville, AL, died Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at Floyd Medical Center.

Mrs. Speer was born August 2, 1940, in Menlo, GA, daughter of the late James Lewis Langston and Ruby Lee Hester Deering. She was a homemaker and was Church of God by faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Junior Speer.

Mrs. Speer is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Larry J. and Brandy Speer; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Danny Hicks, Christy and Lane Bailey, Debra and Darren Hamilton; a sister, Willie Woodall; grandchildren, Joey Hicks, Stephanie Hicks, Amber Compton, David Sanford, Brody Bailey, Nikki Mullins, and Travis Hamilton.

Funeral services for Mrs. Speer will be held at 12:00 Noon (E.S.T.) Friday, January 2, 2015, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Hill (Needmore) Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Dan Hicks, Lane Bailey, Darren Hamilton, Joey Hicks, David Sanford, and Brody Bailey. Travis Hamilton will serve as Honorary Pallbearer.

Mrs. Speer will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. (E.S.T.) until the hour of service on Friday.
