What started out as a “home improvement project” turned out to be any BUT…when a fire broke out at the residence on 44th Street in Ft Payne.
The homeowner said he was repainting a room in the home, while his wife was out of town on a business trip; the work was meant to be a holiday surprise for his spouse.
WAFF TV48 reported that the man returned home from shopping to find the home ablaze – Ft Payne firefighters quickly brought the fire under control however the home did sustain a significant amount of damage.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
