Ider Man Arrested Following Gaylesville/Ider Basketball Game Thursday Night

DurhamAccording to the information contained in a news release from Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, a disturbance occurring at Gaylesville High School Thursday night sent two people to a local hospital for treatment.

That incident occurred at around 8:25pm, following a basketball game. Apparently, a large fight started in the school parking lot involving juveniles from both Ider and Gaylesville,  At some point, a female who was attempting to break up the fight was knocked to the ground, and struck her head causing injuries.

Meanwhile, a 37 year old Ider resident, Alton Scott Durham, was arrested for his part in the fight after witnesses identified him to officers as causing injury to one of the juveniles.

Durham was charged with Child Abuse, and transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center.

According to the Sheriff’s Office website bond for Durham has yet to be set.
