A shooting incident in Gadsden has left one person injured.

According to reports – 18 year old Christian DeWayne Byers was shot several times around 12:40am Thursday in the 800 block of Avenue E – as he was walking in the direction of the American Legion Hall; Byers suffered two bullet wounds to his right thigh before he ran to a nearby house for help – where the homeowner called 9-1-1.

He was taken to Gadsden Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Police found a shotgun and several 9mm shells in the area where the incident took place.

The investigation into the matter is on-going.
