Three people have now been arrested in connection with a weekend shooting incident that took place in Cave Spring.
Police said two people were shot during the incident which occurred outside a convenience store on the Gadsden Highway; however the warrants did not charge anyone in connection with the shooting. Warrants at the Floyd County Jail indicated that 35 year old Craig Aaron Jones and 51 year old Regina Jones – have both been charged with Aggravated Assault and Aggravated Battery.
Craig Jones allegedly tried to strike 27 year old David Matthew McGhee with his vehicle in the parking lot of the Rome Food Mart; he is accused of then tackling McGhee, slamming his head into the pavement and then hitting him with a baseball bat. Regina Jones is accused of pointing a gun at McGhee during the assault, and at some point hitting the victim in the face with her fists.
Meanwhile, 25 year old Ansley Taylor-McGhee was charged with Making False Statements after allegedly telling investigators that she didn’t witness the altercation because she was in the store at the time. Police say she watched and failed to break-up the fight, despite the fact that she approached the two men several times – at one point holding a baseball bat.
According to Floyd County Police that investigation is on-going, and more charges could be filed.
