Jury Duty Scam Reported In The Area

Yet another phone scam is bilking money out of people by claiming they did not report for jury duty.

The scam works this way: A caller identifies himself as a deputy with the sheriff’s office, then tells the person answering they did not report for jury duty.

The caller then says it will take $500 to recall a warrant for the person’s arrest, and provides instructions on how to pay the fee.

The scam then gets the person’s personal information and access to his bank account. It’s an old technique and under no circumstances should anyone give out personal information unless the call is initiated by you.

Law Enforcement agencies will never call you asking for money to recall a warrant.
