Two individuals have been charged with Murder in connection with a fatal shooting which took place on Monday in the Farill Community, North of Cedar Bluff.
Cherokee County E-911 received a call at approximately 2:30 that morning reporting a shooting at the residence with Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, deputies, and Cedar Bluff police officers responding to the scene.
Officers discovered that 39 year-old Billy Ingram had been shot and killed.
The recently formed Cherokee County Major Crimes Unit also responded to the scene and began the investigation. Investigators from the multi-agency unit worked around the clock to determine the persons responsible for Ingram’s death.
Evidence led investigators to Rossville, Georgia, where 21 year-old Jeremiah Jackson and 36 year-old Darrell Burgess was taken into custody late Monday night.
Both are being held in the Walker County, Georgia, Detention Center awaiting extradition to Cherokee County for the charge of murder.
Sheriff Jeff Shaver commended the diligent work of the Major Crimes Unit for quickly solving this case and arresting the two individuals. Shaver stated, “I know it’s difficult for a family to have someone senselessly killed, and I’m thankful those responsible were apprehended so quickly.”
