The Cedar Bluff Town Council met in a Special Called Meeting on Thursday evening with several items being on the agenda.
The Council received their 2013 Audit Report as presented by Todd Hindsman, representing Hindsman, Hall & Storey out of Gadsden, Hindsman said that he found no fault in the report and that the town was in compliance.
There was also a very lengthy discussion concerning the sale of the old Water Treatment Property located off of Money’s Bend Road – Councilman Norman Burton made a motion that the town accept sealed bids on the property with the motion passing unanimously.
The council also approved a motion to purchase a portion of property located at 4104 Boundary Ave which adjoins property which is already owned by the town – the motion passed contingent upon a clean deed to the property.
Some discussion was also given into minimizing the Police Jurisdiction –the police jurisdiction in Cedar Bluff covers approximately 1.5 miles from any point of the town town limits, Police Chief Steve Walden said that over fifty percent of their calls are outside the town limits.
Now the police department will only be responding to calls within the town limits of Cedar Bluff, Mayor Tammy Crane told WEIS Radio News that those living within the town limits were no getting a fair amount of police coverage with officers frequently being out of the area.
The town also passed their Budget for the Fiscal Year 2015 totaling $1,106,506 with a projected net surplus of $25,360.02, the budget did not include a raise for employees.
