A Calhoun County woman has been arrested and charged with 1st Degree Sexual Abuse of a Child under the Age of 12; investigators say that 25 year old Brittany Leanne Day had failed to protect her five year old daughter from rape.
Sheriff Larry Amerson said Day’s friend, 21 year old David Anthony Williams – raped Day’s daughter in June of this year (2014).
Williams was charged in August with Rape and Sodomy of a Child under the Age of 12.
Information was gained through interviews with the five year old at the Calhoun/Cleburne Children’s Center – indicating that the mother had been told what was happening, on more than one occasion – however she continued to allow access to the child and made no report to law enforcement regarding the matter.
Day has posted bond and her first court appearance had been scheduled for October 30th – the child is currently in protective custody through the Department of Human Resources.
Williams remains in jail.
