Anniston Police Searching For Person Who Shot And Killed A Pitbull

Anniston police are looking into who may have shot and killed a pitbull early Friday morning.

Capt. Allen George said the incident happened between midnight and 12:15 a.m. A resident in the 600 block of Jewell Street was awakened by gunfire outside the home.

In the yard, officers found the owner’s dog, a white pitbull, yelping in pain from two gunshot wounds to the abdomen.

One round also pierced a bedroom window at the residence.

The dog was transported to Anniston Animal Medical Center where it died.
