Another incident related to the circulating phone scam was reported in Rome this week.
Authorities say a victim told them that a subject called him claiming to be a detective from the Rome Police Department. The subject allegedly told him he had a bench warrant for failing to appear but he could pay a fine and lift the warrant.
The victim reportedly said back to the subjects that if it was true, then send a patrol car to come pick him up. The subject hung up at that point.
