A traffic accident on East Meighan Boulevard claimed the life of a Gadsden man Friday afternoon.
Etowah County Deputy Coroner Michael Head said the accident occurred at 4 p.m in the 700 block of East Meighan.
A motorcycle driven by 22-year-old Carl Waldrop was traveling east, when it collided with a Lexus SUV on the passenger side. The SUV was turning onto Litchfield Avenue.
Head said witnesses indicated the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed. Waldrop was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of the collision – no one else was injured.
