The ONLY topic of discussion prior to Monday’s meeting of the Cherokee County Commission Centered around the proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2015.

It took County Administrator Tim Burgess over an hour to present his proposal to commissioners; the lengthy discussion included a variety of topics including the jail, animal control, and overall expenses and revenue.

County Administrator Tim Burgess presents the proposed budget for the 2015 Fiscal Year during Monday’s Planning Session prior to the County Commission Meeting.

The main concern surrounding the county budget is a large short fall in funding at the Cherokee County Detention Center.

Commissioners did not pass the budget during Monday’s meeting but will do so during a Special Called Session of the Commission on Tuesday September 30, at 4pm– the budget must be passed at that time due to the fact, that this will be the last meeting of the commission prior to the October 1st start of the new fiscal year; bear in mind, any budget that is passed – can be amended at a later date.
