The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office celebrated the retirement of one of its most distinguished employee’s over the last 7 years – Linda Dollar has served as the head cook at the jail for the last seven years and has finally made the decision to retire.
Dollar has been a big inspiration to everyone who has been through the Detention Center and despite the reason they are there has always made an effort to make everyone feel special.
Dollar has been cooking for more than 25 years –Cherokee County Chief of Corrections Harley Lamey had this to say of Mrs. Dollar –
The reception took place on the grounds of the old Centre Municipal Airport which was recently taken over by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department by way of a lease agreement from the City of Centre – Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver tells us more about how the property was acquired and what it will be used for.
Sheriff Shaver said that there will be a total of four investigators that will be housed at the new facility, the inmates will also have their fresh vegetable garden as well as a fruit orchard – Sheriff Shaver said that they will also have holding tanks for fresh tilapia which will be raised at the facility.
There was no tax payer cost with the project as all the labor was done by inmates of the jail – among those in attendance was Chattooga County, Georgia Sheriff Mark Shrader who had these comments –
