Breaking News|Body Discovered In Wooded Area In Ider

Ider BodySheriff Jimmy Harris reports a body was found in a wooded area near Ider on Sunday at approximately 4:00 PM. The body appears to be that of a missing white male but that will be determined by Forensics.

The Body was discovered by riders on horseback after Ider Police Chief Crabtree asked them for assistance. Investigators from the Dekalb County Sheriffs Office responded to the scene and started processing it for evidence.

The body was removed Monday morning and sent to the Alabama Department of Forensics in Huntsville. Investigators from the Center for Applied Forensics assisted in processing the scene and removal of the body.

This Investigation is ongoing and further information will be released when it is available. Harris states “We had people working all night on this case, I hope we can get a positive ID soon and follow up on some leads developed so far,”
