A pair of women who already face charges for using drugs while pregnant have also been accused of stealing pills from a man in an retirement home.
Attalla Police say Krystle Leigh Peppers, 31, of Gadsden, and Cierra Brooke Blackwood, 19, of Gadsden, have been charged with second-degree theft of a controlled substance.
Chief Investigator Doug Jordan said a 67-year-old man residing in an assisted living facility reported the theft from his apartment. The man grudgingly told police the pills were stolen by two women who there to have sex with him in exchange for money.
While speaking to one woman, the other took about 90 norco tablets.
The women apparently sold the pills for meth, Jordan said. They have been charged with second degree theft. The arrest led to additional chemical endangerment charges.
The two are receiving treatment from the Aletheia House in Birmingham, which offers a program specializing in the treatment of pregnant women.
