A 37 year old Jacksonville man – Richard Thad Pilkington – has been arrested on a murder charge in connection with the beating death of a woman on Sunday.

According to information on the Facebook page of the Jacksonville Police Department – just after 3:00am Sunday officers responded to a report of an injury at a home in the 1400 block of Penn Avenue Northwest.

They arrived to find the victim, 48 year old Tracy Lynn Callaway Strange, suffering several severe injuries to her face and head. She was taken from the scene to Jacksonville Regional Medical Center, where she died a short time later.

Police Chief Tommy Thompson said Pilkington and Strange apparently lived together – and the cause of death is being referred to as having resulted from a “domestic situation.”

Pilkington remains in the Calhoun County Jail.

The investigation into the matter is on-going.
