Two Etowah County women have been arrested for chemical endangerment of a child.
According to Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin, 31 year old Krystle Leigh Peppers, of Gadsden, was charged on July 24, with one count of chemical endangerment of exposing a child to an environment in which controlled substances are ingested, produced or distributed, which is a felony.”
Peppers is pregnant and admitted to using drugs after she was arrested for theft by the Attalla Police Department. She tested positive for amphetamines.
Her bond was set at $15,000. Peppers is currently on Community Corrections.
19 year old Cierra Brooke Blackwood of Gadsden was also charged on July 24, with one count of chemical endangerment of exposing a child to an environment in which controlled substances are ingested, produced or distributed, which is a felony.
Investigator Bobby Bryant said that Blackwood, who is pregnant, was arrested by the Attalla Police Department for theft and tested positive for amphetamines and methamphetamine.
Her bond was set at $15,000.
Both women have been sent to receive treatment from the Aletheia House in Birmingham. The Aletheia House offers a program that specializes in the treatment of pregnant women.
