According to Gadsden Police Reports – a 26 year old man leapt from a bridge near the site of the old Gulf States Steel Plant on Wednesday afternoon – in an apparent suicide attempt.
Witnesses reported seeing the unnamed man pull off the roadway on the east side of the bridge in the 2900 block of Forrest Avenue shortly before 2:00pm; he reportedly got out of the vehicle and walked back to the bridge and jumped.
Emergency personnel quickly arrived on the scene – and the man was air-lifted to UAB Hospital for treatment.
