Former Nursing Home Employee Pleads Guilty to 1st Degree Theft Charge

Crowne 1A former employee of a DeKalb County Nursing Home has been convicted of stealing in excess of $5,000 from the facility’s resident trust fund. According to information contained in the news release from Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange, 41 year old Kimberly Yvette Nance of a Rainsville address, has pled guilty to one count of Theft of Property 1st Degree.

She had been indicted by a DeKalb County Grand Jury last November (2013).

She admitted that, while working at Crowne Healthcare of Ft Payne she stole $5,634.77 from the trust fund by falsifying deposit tickets and converting the money to her own use.

The thefts all took place between 2010 and August of 2012.

DeKalb County Circuit Judge Randall Cole handed down a two-year prison sentence, which was suspended and Nance was placed on two years of supervised probation; she must additionally re-pay the money and can no longer work in any facility which receives federal healthcare funds.
