Man Involved in Cherokee County Home Invasion and Stabbing Now in Custody

Jeremy Don WilliamsA DeKalb County man has been arrested on warrants from Cherokee County in connection with a home invasion during which two people were stabbed.

Sheriff Jimmy Harris said officers were looking for Jeremy Don Williams, age 34 of Ft Payne in the Henagar area – when he was spotted in a vehicle by a Drug Task Force agent.

Williams fled – and officers gave chase along County Road 116 until his vehicle slid into a ditch at the intersection of 116 and County Road 85.

Williams was taken into custody following a brief struggle.

He was booked into the DeKalb County Detention Center on charges of Attempting to Elude and Resisting Arrest; he was later transferred to the Cherokee County Detention Center and charged with Burglary 1st Degree and Assault 2nd Degree for the incident occurring locally.

Sheriff Harris states “we are glad to get this person for Cherokee County. The incident he was involved in over there was very violent and he had threatened suicide before he would go back to jail. Our officers did a good job of ending this chase quickly and safely. Williams was tased to prevent further injuries to himself and the officers. We are glad to bring this man in before anyone else got hurt.”
