Ex-Activity Director at Eagle Rock Boys Ranch Arrested on Sex Charges

ECSO - PruettThe former Activity Director of Eagle Rock Boys Ranch has been arrested on charges of Sexual Abuse and Sodomy.

ABC/3340 is reporting that 61 year old Roy Dean Pruett had until recently served as the Activity Director for the facility, which is a group home for at-risk boys between the ages of 9 and 19.

Eagle Rock Executive Director Scott Hilton said he terminated Pruett’s employment earlier this month (July 2014) for reasons unrelated to the accusations of sexual abuse. Investigators say the abuse did not take place at the juvenile care facility.

According to information in a news release from Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin – Pruett has been charged with two counts of First Degree Sexual Abuse of a Child under the Age of 12 and with two counts of First Degree Sodomy – all felonies.

Sheriff Entrekin says the investigation is on-going; he added evidence has indicated that the abuse has been taking place since approximately November 1st of 2012.

Pruett remains lodged in the Etowah County Detention Center on a cash bond of $300,000.
