Cherokee County Residents Vote To Continue The One Cent Sales Tax For Education

Cherokee County voters have voted to continue the One Cent Sales Tax for Education – a total of 1,582 citizens voted in favor of the tax while 1,244 voted No.

The issue has been a source of often heated debate over the past several months especially. Superintendent Mitchell Guice had proposed that the tax be instituted in perpetuity however the renewal will be for a period of two years.

Following the Election Results Superintendent Guice had these comments –

photoIn the race for Place #5 on the Cherokee County Board Of Education it was Brian Jennings winning the runoff by a margin of 1,252 voted to Rhett Walkers 1,040 votes.
