UPDATE/Drug Eradication Team Seized And Destroyed Over 600 Plants On Friday

Additional information has been released surrounding the arrest of an Ellisville man of Friday.

According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver – The State Bureau of Investigation helicopter was in the area on Friday working with Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office personnel on drug eradication.

Officers worked in teams with aerial spotters locating marijuana plants and ground crews collecting them for destruction.

According to Sheriff Jeff Shaver, it was an extremely hot day but officers were very productive seizing and destroying approximately 600 marijuana plants.

Officers discovered plants growing at a residence in Ellisville. John Loyd Ellis, age 52, was arrested and charged with first degree unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Cherokee County investigators will be conducting more searches from evidence gathered on Friday and expect to make additional arrests.
