Cherokee County Group Shane Givens Band To Appear On Zuus TV

Shane Givens Band1This is a big week for the Shane Givens Band. The Northeast Alabama group will be featured on Zuus TV in two programs, and the cable network also will air the video of their single, “Hillbilly Superman.”

Guitarist Brian Bankston said the group will be featured by the network as a band “on the rise.”

Bankston said the group also will be featured in a program called “On the Couch,” performing acoustic versions of “Hillbilly Superman” and “Beautiful One.”
Both songs will be on the group’s next album, which is due to be completed later in July.

Bankston said he hopes the exposure will “take us to the next level, whatever that is.”

The band hopes it will increase sales of “Hillbilly Superman,” which is on iTunes, and lead to a record deal.

The Shane Givens Band has been together since August 2012. Shane Givens, who is the lead singer and also plays the acoustic guitar, harmonica and piano, is a lawyer in Centre. Bankston is band director at Gadsden Middle School. Saxophonist Arnold Montgomery works at Gadsden Music Co. Bass guitarist

Charlie Freeman recently graduated from law school. Drummer Josh Griffith is an insurance salesman in Centre.
Bankston described the band’s music as “swamp rock,” a sub-genre of Southern rock.

He said the network shot a video of “Hillbilly Superman” after the group won a Battle of the Bands contest and performed last year at Delta County Jam, a festival in Tunica, Miss.

Zuus is on Comcast Channel 215 in Gadsden, and can also be seen at zuus.com.
