Pedestrian Struck and Killed on Alabama Highway 77

pedestrian_killed 1An Attalla man died after being struck by a car while walking along Highway 77 Saturday night.

Etowah County Deputy Coroner Michael Head stated that 24 year old Adam David Vaughn was fatally injured as he and another man were walking down the road, after their vehicle had broken down near the Jet pep service station at Gallant Road and 77.

The pair was reportedly heading to a residence on Miller Hollow Road at around 10:30pm, when a Ford Escape being driven by a 19 year old Boaz resident, struck Vaughn – who was apparently walking down the middle of the highway.

The impact sent Vaughn’s body some sixty feet away from where he was walking.

He was pronounced dead at 11:08pm.

Alabama State Troopers, the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office and Ivalee Fire & Rescue workers responded to the scene. At this time, it appears the driver of the vehicle hasn’t been charged in connection with the incident.
