Chattooga County Officials Believe They May Have Found The Weapon That Killed Bob Packer

Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader said that he believes that investigators have found the weapon that was used to murder William Robert “Bob” Packer.

Packer was found dead with three gunshot wounds to the back at his home on John Jones Road in the Silver Hill area of the Gore Community in Chattooga County on June 14.

Deborah Elaine Wilkins has been charged with that murder. She reportedly confessed to the murder to Chattooga County investigators and has been working with law enforcement to recover the murder weapon.

Sheriff Schrader said on Friday afternoon that at approximately 3:30 pm investigators recovered a .45 cal handgun from a pond located near Hwy 100 and Lyerly Dam Road.

Sheriff Shrader says that authorities will wait for crime lab confirmation before they confirm that this is the handgun that was used in the death William “Bob” Packer however by comparing serial numbers, this was a handgun owned by Packer.

The gun was located in the general area that Wilkins had shown investigators.
