Floyd County Authorities Take Several Reports Of “Funny Money”

Floyd County Police took three reports last week regarding counterfeit money.

In one incident, a woman told officers that she received a bill at a local grocery store and was then told it was a fake when she tried to use it at a Martha Berry Highway convenience store.

In a second incident, a snow cone truck driver said she received a bogus 20-dollar bill while working on Dodd Boulevard in Rome.

She found out the bill was phony when she attempted to purchase gas.

In the third case, an employee at the BP at Calhoun Road and Georgia Loop 1 called police after receiving a fake 10-dollar bill.

All of the bills were placed into evidence and the investigation is continuing.

Rome Police investigated a couple of reports of counterfeit money last week as well.
