Arrest Made in Murder Investigation / UPDATED

Bob Packer 2An arrest has been made in connection with the murder of a Chattooga County man.

The body of William “Bob” Packer was found inside his home on John Jones Road in the Silver Hill area last Saturday (June 14th), with Sheriff Mark Schrader stating that the death was being investigated as a homicide.

A “person of interest” was held for questioning that night – but released the following morning, with an announcement that another warrant would soon be served in connection with the case

The Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office announced on Thursday, that 53 year old Deborah Elaine Wilkins of a Summerville address has been arrested, and will be charged with murder of Packer.

Packer was accused of murder in the death of his long-time friend James Kirby back in 2010 – he was allegedly intoxicated at the time of the shooting – and he was later indicted by a Chattooga County Grand Jury on a charge of Malice Murder. Packer went on trial in October 2012 and was subsequently found “not guilty” on the Malice Murder charge with the other counts against him in relation to the death of Kirby being declared a mistrial.
