Search Continues For Man Wanted in Kidnapping Incident

Summerville - Economy MotelAccording to Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader – the search continues for an individual who abducted a man in Floyd County on Sunday and forced him to drive to Chattooga County.

The victim was reportedly approached at the Economy Motel off of Highway 27 near the Harbin Clinic, and forced to drive toward Summerville; the driver apparently tried to drive erratically in an attempt to gain the notice of other motorists or a law enforcement official before accidentally losing control of his Kia and wrecking on Scott Hill Road, taking out a section of guardrail in the process.

The vehicle rolled as it traveled down a steep embankment – after which both the driver and his dog managed to escape the car without any injuries.

The suspect, a black male wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans – also got out of the car, and fled into the woods.

Law enforcement officials and the Hays State Prison Canine Unit searched the area without any success; sheriff Schrader says it’s possible that the suspect used a cell phone to contact someone to pick him up later.

The investigation into the incident is on-going.
