Former Floyd County Deputy Arrested Yet Again

Jerry DukeA former Floyd County sheriff’s deputy was arrested on a charge of aggravated stalking.

39 year old Jerry Duke will be housed at another facility according to Chief Deputy Tom Caldwell. It has not been determined where he will be housed.

Early Friday morning Judge Walter Matthews suspended the hearing regarding a temporary protective order pending a criminal investigation by the District Attorney’s Office into allegations that Duke had contact with a 17-year old girl on multiple occasions after the Protective Order was issued on May 9.

The mother of the girl filed the petition for the order on May 1, saying thirty-nine-old Jerry Duke had been going to her daughter’s job, meeting her in the park, taking her to his home and meeting her at tech school.

During the original hearing, Judge Walter Matthews ordered Duke to stay away from the girl until she turned 18 and Duke agreed.

During Friday’s hearing, the 17-year old testified that Duke purchased a cell phone and gave it to her in the parking lot of Wal Mart.

She also stated that she did not want the protective order against Duke and she initiated the contact. Duke did not take the stand.
