Northeast Alabama native Chase Whitley had a great night Thursday – as he made his big league debut against the New York Mets at Citi Field.
In his first start for the Yankees Whitley pitched four and two-thirds innings – allowing only two hits, two walks and striking out four; he was pulled with two men on in the fifth inning, with the Yankees ultimately winning the game one-nothing (1-0).
In his first major league at bat, Cleburne County’s brightest star managed to score a single before being left on base.
He finished the night having thrown a total of 74 pitches (43 strikes / 31 balls).
