Mrs. Melba Tucker Chestnut

Mrs. Melba Tucker Chestnut age 91 of Centre went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday May 15th surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be 4: PM Saturday May 17th at Tuckers Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Wayne Killian and Rev. Michael Reece officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 PM until 3 PM Saturday.

Pallbearers are Thomas Hamilton, Tuck Tucker, Sammy Chesnut, Richard Lee, Tyler Roderick, Gary Robinson, Brandon Robinson, and Jordan Robinson.

Mrs. Chestnut is survived by her Daughters; Beverly Kay Chestnut of Southside, AL, Janice C. (Timothy) Hamilton, Sr. of Griffin, GA, Sister; Dorothy (Julian) Fricks, Grandchildren; Erika “Nikki” Nicole Fox, Laura Frances Hamilton, Thomas Charles Hamilton and Timothy Francis Hamilton, Jr., Brother In- Laws; E.H. Johnson, Troy Chesnut, Sister In- Laws; Nellie Mitchell, Judy Tucker, Sara Tucker, Louise Chesnut and several Nieces and Nephews.

Melba was preceded in death by her Husband Thomas Clarence Chestnut, Son, Thomas Darryl Chestnut, Brothers, Russell Tucker, Melvin Tucker and her sisters, Sybil Evans and June Tucker.

Mrs. Chestnut was a native of DeKalb County the Daughter of the late William Oates and Ethel Laura Stroud Tucker. Melba worked as a riveter on the B29 Bombers during World War II. She was a homemaker and a member of the Tuckers Chapel United Methodist Church. She was a strong hardworking, loving, and humble woman of God and so much more.
