New classes are being added at the Cherokee County Career & Tech Center.
During the Tuesday night meeting of the Cherokee County Board of Education, Superintendent Mitchell Guice spoke on the subject
In other business, the Board approved an increase in the price of school meals next year with the cost of student lunches increasing by a quarter – from $2.25 to $2.50 / Meals for employees will increase by fifty cents – from $2.75 to $3.25 / visitor meals will likewise rise, from $3.50 to 4.00.
Also a bid of $8,250 was approved to West Alabama Contracting for the removal of asbestos tile from eight classrooms at Centre Elementary School. Once that tile has been removed the Board will no longer have to provide asbestos monitoring services.
The Spring Garden school cafeteria will be getting a new stainless steel serving line – with Board members approving a bid of $25,854 from Birmingham Restaurant Supply, while the cafeteria at Centre Elementary will be receiving a new Hobart Dish Machine along with a new Hobart Water Softening System; the bid – in the amount of $18,557 – also went to the Birmingham Restaurant Supply Company.
