A Cherokee County man was arrested Monday evening on drug charges – after being pulled over on a routine traffic stop.

While on patrol Officer Will Clark pulled the vehicle over and shortly thereafter he requested the assistance of Investigator Leigha Blake, and of Criminal Investigator Michael Green with the K9 Unit.

Officers were able to recover one-and-a-half ounces of methamphetamine, an ounce of marijuana and $954 in cash from the suspect’s Nissan Altima.

32 year old Centre resident, Christopher Shane Hanson, was placed under arrest and was charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 1st Degree and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

He was transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center where he awaits setting of bond.
