BUS VS SUV 1

A Floyd County School Bus collided with a Toyota SUV at about 9:30 Thursday morning, and officials say all kids onboard were unharmed.

According to PFC Mike Simmons of the Rome Police Department, an elderly woman driving a 2002 Toyota 4Runner traveling southbound on 6th Avenue ran the red light at East 1st Street and was struck on the driver’s side by the bus.

Floyd County Schools Spokesman Tim Hensley said the bus had departed from Pepperell High School and was transporting special education kids to a work based program.

The elderly woman was transported to Floyd Medical Center with only minor injuries.
